Executive summary
Steelscape is a national supplier of metallic-coated and pre-painted steel servicing the construction industry located in Kalama, Washington.
Over the past two years the DevOps team at AXEN has built several EDI (ElectronicData Interchange) and other integration solutions for SAO using Microsoft Biztalk.
The Project solutions have included EDI mapping and integration of complex shipping notices, connecting with external customers and banks.
One solution of note was integration with systems at American Express to map and process the movement of founds between customer accounts and company.
The team were given instructions, worked independently and delivered comprehensive, thorough solutions on time and budget saving the company the time and cost of a full-timeresource.

Challenges
The tasks at hand were very complex and time consuming data mapping for EDI for SAP and also integration with a variety of applications and external customer networks.
Automating the receipt of purchase orders, shipping instructions and payment instructions for large manufacturing projects.
The solution
The solution required taking requirements from each customer’s apps and network and mapping the data for integration with SAP.
This established a communication mechanism for the receipt and processing of purchase orders, communications for the manufacture of the coated steel orders, shipping instructions and processing of payments with customers, manufacturing systems, shippers and banks.
The capabilities of the team to quickly integrate customer systems and data with SAP, handle product upgrades and implementations on time sensitive projects resulted in the outsourcing of all EDI BizTalk functions to Xemble and resulted in improved solution time frame and a reduction of employee headcount.
